# Comment-to-DM

It is the classic "comment GUIDE and I'll send it to you". It runs on its own once you turn it on.

## Where it works

| Platform | What happens |

| Instagram | A DM (with buttons, a card or media) and a public reply. Also story replies, story mentions and live comments |
| Facebook | A DM and a public reply |
| TikTok, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube | A public reply only. These platforms do not allow a private reply to a comment |

## Do it in the dashboard

1. Open **Automations**, then **Comment to DM**, and choose **New automation**.
2. Pick the **Account**, then one post, or **Any post** to watch every post on the account.
3. Type your **Keywords**, for example GUIDE. Under **Match**, choose:
   - **Contains**: fires if the word is anywhere, even inside another word.
   - **Whole word**: whole words only. Best for short keywords.
   - **Exact**: the whole comment must be the keyword.
4. Write the **Direct message** and add a button with your link. On Instagram, **How the DM is sent** starts on **Button first**: the commenter first gets a short message with a **Send me the link** button, and your DM follows when they tap it. You can change both.
5. Add a public reply if you want one, like "Sent you a DM!".
6. Choose **Create and start**, or **Create paused** to check it first.

## Make it work better

- **Write a few versions of the DM.** Add up to 5 variations. Each person gets one at random, so it feels less like a robot.
- **Keep Button first on Instagram.** Instagram lets you message someone who commented only once until they reply. Their tap counts as a reply, so your link, buttons and media all arrive. With **Link right away**, everything must fit in one message, and accounts that keep sending more can be restricted.
- **Use buttons for the first message.** A first DM to someone new lands in their message requests, where quick-reply chips do not show.
- **Add a short delay.** "Delay before the DM" makes it feel human.
- **Use Whole word for short keywords.** With Contains, "app" also fires on "happy".
- **Also match DMs.** Answer people who send the keyword as a DM instead of a comment.

## Good to know

- Pozy only messages people who commented or wrote to you first. No cold DMs.
- Facebook has the same one-message rule but no Button first yet, so put the link in the DM itself.
- Links are tracked by default, so you can count clicks.
- Each platform decides what it allows. Follow its rules.
