# Post to Slack and answer messages

Source: https://pozy.ai/help/messaging/slack

## Connect a channel

1. Open **Connections**, then **Accounts**, and choose **New connection**.
2. Pick the **Profile** (the project), then **Slack**.
3. Sign in to Slack and approve the app.
4. Pick the channel. One connected account is one channel. To post in several channels, connect each one.

Things that trip people up:

- **Private channels** do not show up until someone invites the app. In that channel, type /invite and choose the app.
- **Admin approval.** Some workspaces need an admin to approve new apps first.
- Slack may say the app "has not been reviewed by Slack". That is normal for apps outside the Slack Marketplace.

## Post to the channel

1. Open **Posts** and choose **Create post**.
2. Pick your Slack channel, with your other accounts if you want.
3. Write the message and add up to 10 files.
4. Choose **Publish now**, **Schedule post** or **Add to queue**.

You can edit or delete a message after it is published.

## Change the name and icon

In the Slack account's settings, under **Bot identity**, set a **Display name** and an **Icon URL**. Tick **Apply to every channel of this Slack workspace** to use them everywhere. Slack still shows a small APP badge next to the name.

## Messages in the inbox

The [Inbox](https://pozy.ai/help/inbox/dms) gets:

- direct messages to the app
- channel messages that @mention the app
- replies in threads the app is part of, including under your posts
- emoji reactions

Normal channel talk is not stored. The inbox starts on the day you connect, with no older history. You can also start a direct message with anyone in the workspace from **New message**.

## Or ask your AI

> Post our release notes to the #announcements Slack channel tomorrow at 9:00. Post a shorter version on LinkedIn at the same time. Show me both first.

## Good to know

- A message can be up to 40,000 characters. Only messages under 4,000 characters can be edited later.
- Slack has no message analytics, so Pozy has no Slack numbers to show.
- File uploads follow your workspace's rules. A free Slack workspace has a storage cap.
- [Sequences](https://pozy.ai/help/automations/sequences) and [broadcasts](https://pozy.ai/help/automations/broadcasts) reach people who sent the app a direct message, not channel messages. [Workflows](https://pozy.ai/help/automations/workflows) do not run on Slack.
- **Discord and Telegram are not available yet.** They are coming soon.
