Ad rules: pause losers, scale winners

A rule checks one ad account on a schedule. When a campaign, ad set or ad meets your conditions, it pauses it, changes its budget or sends an alert.

Once it is on, a rule runs by itself. You do not need to ask your AI each time.

#Do it in the dashboard

  1. Open Ads, then Rules, and choose New rule.
  2. Start from a Template, such as stopping ad sets that lose money or giving winners more budget. Or choose Start blank.
  3. Pick the Ads connection and the Ad account. Give the rule a Name.
  4. Under Check each, pick Campaigns, Ad sets or Ads. Keep Whole ad account, or pick Only some campaigns.
  5. Under When all of these are true, add 1 to 10 conditions. For example: cost per result is over $25 in the last 7 days, and spend is at least $50 in the last 7 days.
  6. Under Then, choose what changes:
    • Only notify: no change on the ad platform.
    • Pause: pause what matches.
    • Turn back on: only what a rule paused.
    • Change budget: raise or lower the daily budget, with a limit it never goes past.
  7. Tick Send a notification if you also want an alert.
  8. Under Run, pick how often it checks, from Every hour to Once a day.
  9. Leave Turn the rule on off and choose Create rule.
  10. Open the rule and choose Preview. It shows what the rule would match today, and changes nothing.
  11. Happy with it? Switch the rule on at the top of the rule's page.

#Or ask your AI

On my Meta ad account, create a rule that runs every 6 hours and pauses any ad set that spent at least $50 in the last 7 days with a cost per result over $25. Keep it off, preview it, and show me what it would pause.

#What a rule did

The Rules page lists every change rules made: what was paused, turned on or rebudgeted. Open a rule for its Run history from the last 31 days.

#Good to know

  • Rules start switched off. They do nothing until you turn them on.
  • Rules work on Meta, Google, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, X and Reddit ads. They are not available on ChatGPT or Whop ads.
  • Rules read the numbers Pozy syncs, which can trail the network's own dashboard.
  • After a rule acts on something, it leaves it alone for the cooldown. The default is one day.
  • One run changes 20 things at most. The rest wait for the next run.
  • Turn back on never touches what you paused yourself.
  • Ads have no budget of their own. To change budgets, check campaigns or ad sets. On Google, use campaigns.
  • Reach and frequency conditions work on Meta and TikTok only.
  • A cost per result condition skips anything with no results yet. Add a spend condition too, like in the example.
  • Send a notification sends an alert to a webhook. Someone on your team has to add an endpoint under Webhooks to receive it. See webhooks.
  • Every plan includes 500 live ads. A workspace without an active plan stays at that 500: past it, rules can still pause and lower budgets, but they cannot turn ads back on or raise budgets.
  • Turning a rule off stops it right away. Changes it already made stay as they are.
