Broadcasts: one message to a group
Send one message to a group of contacts, now or at a set time. Then see who got it, who read it and whose failed.
Good for an order update, a launch, or a reminder the day before your event.
#Where it works
WhatsApp, SMS (outside the US), Instagram, Facebook, X, Bluesky and Slack. US SMS, iMessage and Telegram are not available yet.
#Do it in the dashboard
- Open Automations, then Broadcasts, and choose New broadcast.
- Give it a Name (only your team sees it) and pick the account under Send from.
- Write the Message. On WhatsApp, pick an approved Template instead.
- Add Segment tags if you want, for example "customer". Then choose Create draft.
- Open Recipients and choose Add recipients: Choose contacts, Paste phone numbers (WhatsApp and SMS) or Everyone in the segment.
- Choose Send now, or Schedule to pick a time.
#Or ask your AI
Send our "event_reminder" WhatsApp template to every subscribed contact tagged "workshop", tomorrow at 9am. Tell me how many people that is before you schedule it.
#WhatsApp needs a template
WhatsApp lets you send free text only within 24 hours of a person's last message. Most people on a list have not written that recently. So a WhatsApp broadcast always sends an approved template.
If your template has blanks, like {{1}} for a name, fill each one under Variables. The number of variables must match the template, or every send fails.
#See what happened
Each broadcast shows Sent, Delivered, Read and Failed. On the Recipients tab you see the status of every person. Filter by Failed to see why a message did not go out.
#Good to know
- Instagram and Facebook broadcasts only reach people who messaged you in the last 24 hours.
- New WhatsApp numbers can start conversations with 250 people a day at first. People above that limit do not get the message.
- Set Subscription to Subscribed only in your segment, so people who opted out are left out.
- Only send to people who wrote to you or agreed to hear from you.
- Each person counts as one message. Up to 10,000 a month are included in your plan. WhatsApp charges its own template fees on top.
- A scheduled broadcast cannot be edited. Cancel it and make a new one. You can still Reschedule it.
