WhatsApp profile and sender settings

Change what customers see when they open your WhatsApp chat: the name, the username, the photo and your business details. Each number also has tabs for automation, shopping, ad conversions, blocking and costs.

#Do it in the dashboard

  1. Open WhatsApp, then Senders.
  2. Click the number, or open its menu and choose Settings.
  3. Pick a tab at the top. The first four change how the number looks to customers:
    • Profile: upload a square photo with Upload photo. Then fill in About, Description, Address, Email, Category and up to two websites. Choose Save profile.
    • Display name: the name shown on your messages. Type a New display name and choose Submit for review.
    • Username: a public @username, so people can find you without your number. Pick one, or tap a suggestion, then choose Claim.
    • Number: its status, quality rating and daily limit, live from Meta.

#The other tabs

Tab What it does
Automation Turn on the welcome event, so a workflow can greet people who open a chat for the first time. Add Ice breakers (up to 3 questions people can tap in an empty chat, 80 characters each) and Commands (shown when they type / in the chat). Choose Save automation
Commerce Shopping in the chat: Show the catalog adds a store icon to the chat, Enable the cart lets people send you an order. Link one Meta product catalog by its id
Conversions For click-to-WhatsApp ads. Choose Create dataset, then send events like a lead or a purchase back to Meta, so it can match them to the ad that started the chat
Block list Block or unblock numbers, or check one. Blocked numbers cannot message or call you
Events Meta's notices about the number: quality changes, limit upgrades, template reviews and restrictions
Spend What Meta charges for your messages over the last 7, 30 or 90 days, by category

#Fix or move a number

On the Number tab:

  • Messages fail with a permission error? Run Register number again. If the number has a two-step verification PIN, type it first. Pozy uses it for this step only.
  • Meta asks your own number to verify again? Under Re-verify with Meta, choose Send code. The code goes to that phone. Type it, choose Verify, then run Register number.
  • Move a Pozy number to another profile: pick the profile under Move to another profile and choose Move. WhatsApp, calls and SMS on that number move together.

#Or ask your AI

Change the About line on my WhatsApp business profile to "Fresh roasts, shipped the same day" and add our website. Then tell me if my new display name is still in review with Meta.

#Good to know

  • Meta reviews every display name. It usually takes 1 to 3 days. Your current name stays live until then. Use your business name as customers know it, with no extra words or emoji.
  • Usernames use 3 to 35 lowercase letters, numbers, dots or underscores. A reserved username goes live once Meta turns usernames on for your account. If you release it, anyone can claim it.
  • The photo is a JPG or PNG under 5 MB. If the number also runs in the WhatsApp Business app, change the photo in the app.
  • Blocking only works on numbers that wrote to you in the last 24 hours.
  • Conversion events need your business to be verified by Meta. Use a test code from Meta Events Manager to try them without touching your ads.
  • Spend shows Meta's fees in US dollars. Meta bills them to your WhatsApp Business Account. Replies inside the 24-hour window are free.
  • The free sandbox number has none of these settings. You need a number of your own. See Set up WhatsApp.
