Sequences: follow-ups over days
Send a series of messages over days to people who wrote to you or said yes to hearing from you. They stop the moment someone replies.
Think of a welcome series after a sign-up, follow-ups after a lead form, or a reminder before an appointment.
#Where it works
WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, X, Bluesky and Slack. Telegram is coming soon.
#Do it in the dashboard
- Open Automations, then Sequences, and choose New sequence.
- Give it a Name, pick the Account it sends from, and write the First message if you want.
- Choose Create sequence. It starts as a draft.
- In Steps, choose Add step. Set the Wait for each step, for example 1 day after the step before.
- Under Exit conditions, keep Stop when they reply and Stop when they unsubscribe on.
- Choose Activate.
- Open Enrollments and choose Enroll contacts to add people.
#Or ask your AI
Make a WhatsApp sequence for new leads: our welcome template right away, a check-in template after 2 days, and a last reminder after 5 days. Enroll the 12 people tagged "webinar". Show me the steps first.
#Three ways to enroll people
- By hand, with Enroll contacts.
- From a workflow, with an Enroll in sequence step. For example, right after someone shares their email.
- By asking your AI, or from your own app when something happens, like a trial starting.
People already in the sequence are skipped.
#The 24-hour rule
Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp only let you send free text within 24 hours of the person's last message.
- WhatsApp: use an approved template for every step that may go out later than that. Plain text steps do not reach people who went quiet.
- Instagram and Facebook: keep sequences short, or use them right after a chat starts. Later steps stop reaching people who did not write back.
#Good to know
- Only enroll people who wrote to you first or agreed to hear from you. On WhatsApp this is a platform rule.
- Steps are locked while the sequence is active. Pause it to change them.
- Pause stops all sends. Everyone keeps their place until you activate it again.
- Enrollments shows each person's progress, the next step time, and why they left: Replied, Unsubscribed, Removed by hand or Send failed.
- Each message counts toward your messages. Up to 10,000 a month are included in your plan. See Plans and usage.
