Keep your Google Business profile up to date
Change your hours, services, menus, photos and booking links in one place. Verify a new location and see how people find you on Google.
I found @acme on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. Here is the plan:
- TikTok video, public, comments on
- Instagram reel, shared to feed
- YouTube Short, “Dark mode is here”
- Tue 3 Nov, 09:00 Europe/Madrid · comment-to-DM on “price”
Shall I schedule it?
Scheduled on 3 platforms. I will reply to price questions with a DM.
Your listing is what people see when they search for you on Google Search and Maps.
#Do it in the dashboard
- Connect your profile: open Connections, then Accounts, choose New connection and pick Google Business Profile. Sign in with a Google login that owns or manages the listing.
- Open Google Business. If you manage several places, pick the Location at the top.
- Pick a tab, make your change and save.
| Tab | What you change |
|---|---|
| Overview | Business name, description, opening hours, holiday and special hours, phone, website, categories. Mark the place as temporarily closed |
| Services | What you offer, with an optional price. Save services replaces the whole list on Google |
| Food menus | Menus for restaurants and cafes. Add menu, Add section, Add item, then Save menus |
| Photos | Photos of the storefront, the inside and what you sell |
| Attributes | Facts like Wi-Fi, accessibility or payment options. Google decides which ones fit your category |
| Booking and order links | Buttons like Book an appointment, Reserve a table, Order food or Shop online |
| Verification | Prove to Google that the business is real |
#Verify a location
Until a location is verified, Google may not show the listing or your edits.
- Open Verification and choose See verification methods.
- Pick a method Google offers: text message, phone call, email, postcard, or instant when allowed. Then choose Send the code.
- When the code arrives, type it and choose Verify.
Google sends the code right away, so check with the owner first. A postcard can take a couple of weeks.
#See how people find you
Open Analytics, then Accounts, and pick your Google Business Profile. You see:
- Profile impressions: views on Search and Maps, on mobile and desktop.
- What people did: website clicks, calls and direction requests.
- Search keywords: the searches that showed your profile, by month.
Google reports these 2 to 3 days late. Rare searches show "fewer than" a number instead of an exact count.
#Or ask your AI
We are closed on December 25 and 26. Add holiday hours to our Google Business Profile. Then tell me our top 10 search keywords from last month.
#Good to know
- Saving services or menus replaces the whole list on Google. Keep everything you want in it.
- If you change the business name, Google may review the listing again. Use the name customers know, without extra keywords.
- Reviews are answered in the inbox. See Reply to Google and Facebook reviews.
- Posts, offers and events are made in Posts. See Post updates, offers and events on Google.
